Job summary

MainePERS in Augusta, ME is seeking a Plan Administration Associate to support the Defined Benefit, Deferred Compensation, and Defined Contribution programs, including the PLD and MaineSTART plans. You will help members, employers, and staff by interpreting plan provisions, determining eligibility, and ensuring transactions and documentation are accurate and compliant.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus four (4) years of responsible, self-directed work experience that demonstrates excellent customer service, research, and analysis, computational, computer skills and the ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • Ability to travel within the state; valid driver’s license and maintenance of a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Research and respond to member and employer inquiries regarding plan provisions, participation, eligibility, and distributions.
  • Determine eligibility for plan participation and distributions and process rollovers and other plan transactions.
  • Review and maintain plan documentation to ensure it is accurate, complete, compliant, and properly recorded.
  • Serve as a resource to staff, members, and employers by interpreting plan provisions and providing accurate information.
  • Maintain daily plan administration operations in the absence of the Plan Administrator.
  • Prepare documentation and materials for current and prospective PLD employers.
  • Coordinate employer and member meetings for the Plan Administrator, ensuring information and materials are prepared in advance.
  • Represent MainePERS at benefit fairs, conferences, and other outreach events.
  • Use system software and related tools to complete work accurately, efficiently, and within established timeframes.
