Job summary

California State University, Bakersfield's Athletics Department seeks an Assistant Coach (Pitching Coach) for the Baseball program. This full-time, 12-month coaching specialist supports the head coach in team management, player development, game strategy, and recruiting.

The successful candidate will design pitcher development, provide individualized instruction, coordinate schedules with athletic training, and ensure academic progress while complying with NCAA and university rules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Three or more years of successful baseball coaching experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to comply with NCAA, conference, university, and athletics department rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive pitcher development program.
• Provide individualized instruction and feedback to student-athletes.
• Develop position-specific game strategies and preparation plans.
• Manage athlete workload and practice schedules with athletic training staff.
• Use performance tracking tools and video analysis to evaluate progress.
• Travel to events and evaluate potential student-athlete talent; correspond with prospects.
• Complete all necessary compliance and institutional documentation.
• Recruit student-athletes who meet university academic and athletic standards.
• Support athletes’ academic progress with the academic support staff.
• Work with NCAA compliance to ensure rules compliance.
• Manage an annual budget including fiscal planning.
• Promote the program to the public to increase visibility and revenues.
