Job summary

Yingling Aviation in Wichita, KS is seeking a skilled Propeller Mechanic to support overhaul, repair, and maintenance of aircraft propeller systems. The role emphasizes safety, FAA compliance, and hands-on work in a busy hangar environment.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma or equivalent, A&P certification, and 3+ years of piston mechanic experience. Propeller Repairman Certificate is a plus; valid driver’s license and badge eligibility are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet Airport Authority badge requirements and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Propeller Repairman Certificate is a plus.
  • A&P Certification required.
  • 3+ years as a piston mechanic in propeller systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist team leaders and shop foreman with overhauls, repairs, replacements, etc. on aircraft propeller systems in a safe and expeditious manner and within FAA, and or manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Become familiar with piston/turbo prop technical publications and maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, etc., for propellers at this facility.
  • Own and maintain basic hand tools to perform assigned tasks.
  • Work closely with shop and office personnel to ensure smooth transition of all customer property.
  • Become familiar and proficient with all Propeller Shop test and maintenance gear.
  • Perform all tasks assigned by management in a timely and safe manner.
  • Maintain professionalism towards customers (internal and external).
  • Keep work area clean and neat; assist with housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Provide backup to shipping and receiving personnel when propellers are moved.
  • Engage in other activities and projects as approved by Management.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist team leaders and shop foreman with overhauls, repairs, replacements, etc. on aircraft propeller systems in a safe and expeditious manner and within FAA, and or manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Become familiar with Piston/Turbo Prop technical publications (maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, etc.) concerning aircraft propellers maintained at this facility.

  • Work and communicate closely with other shop and office personnel to assure smooth transition of all customer property.
  • Become familiar and proficient with all Propeller Shop test and maintenance gear.
  • Perform all tasks assigned by management in a timely and safe manner.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor towards all customers, (internal and external), showing a courteous, informative and sincere attitude.
  • Maintain a clean and neat work area. Assist with housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Provide backup to shipping and receiving personnel when they are moving aircraft propellers in and out of the work areas.
  • Other activities and projects as approved by Management.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must meet the requirements of Airport Authority to be receive a badge and have no ramp restrictions and have a Current Valid Driver’s License
  • Propeller Repairman Certificate is a plus
  • A&P Certification required
  • 3+ years as Piston mechanic
Physical Requirements

Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Must be able to repeatedly lift 35 lbs. overhead. Occasional periods of walking, sitting, rotation, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching. Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, and frequently lifting up to 35 lbs.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to general shop conditions. Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, lubricants, metals, dust, and solvents. Occasional exposure to seasonal weather
