Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in San Francisco is seeking a Piping/Plumbing Engineer I for Summer 2027. You’ll work with experienced engineers, learning to perform load calculations, sizing, layouts, and equipment selection to support energy-efficient building solutions.

The role focuses on mentorship, developing hands-on skills in MEP consulting and coordinating with clients and designers to deliver high-quality project outcomes for healthcare, science, and other critical facilities.

Qualifications

• BSME/BSAE from ABET accredited school in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Non-academic internship.
• Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
• EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
• Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform load calculations, determine system sizing and layouts, calculate equipment sizes, select equipment, complete field surveys, and review equipment shop drawings.
• As you gain project experience, you will take on a greater role in leading piping/plumbing project teams, writing specifications, participating in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and supporting construction-phase work.
