Position Overview

We are an innovative team supporting diverse projects in the power market. Power generation involves extensive piping; if you have 3+ years in piping design and are interested in various projects at our Lenexa Kansas office, we want to hear from you. You will develop detailed piping and mechanical systems designs, layouts, and 3D models for power generation, with experience outside power (like water/wastewater, chemical, oil and gas) also considered. Projects may include steam systems, water treatment, fuel handling, hydraulic, heat transfer, conveying, or air and gas systems.

District Overview

Our Power district includes structural, civil, piping, mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines, focusing on EPC delivery for power facilities across North America, including gas-fired, renewable, environmental retrofits, and water/wastewater projects.

Location

This role is based full-time in Lenexa, Kansas, with relocation assistance available.

Responsibilities
  • Draft sketches, P&ID diagrams, plans, sections, details, equipment layouts, and 3D models for power plant systems.
  • Check design deliverables against industry codes, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Adhere to schedules and work assignments for successful project completion.
  • Coordinate with team members and support project progress.
  • Train and advise interns or new graduates.
  • Work independently with limited supervision.
  • Identify scope changes and produce design modifications within budget and schedule.
  • Ensure quality and meet customer expectations.
  • Participate in project meetings and support miscellaneous tasks.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in design/drafting, especially in piping or mechanical systems, with power generation experience preferred.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting/Design or engineering preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficiency in 3D programs like MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, etc.
  • Experience in conceptualizing designs in 2D/3D, designing piping and mechanical systems, creating P&ID’s, plot plans, and drawings for construction.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Reliable attendance, meeting deadlines, effective communication, and safety compliance.
  • Ability to work during normal hours, overtime, and weekends as needed.
  • Willingness to work at various locations under different conditions.
