Piping Designer

Due to continued growth and expansion, we are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Piping Designer based in our Freeport, Texas office.

The Piping Designer will work with our design team in our Freeport, Texas office.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Complete piping design and layouts using 2D & 3D software, including modifications for new and existing process services and utilities.
• Prepare construction documents such as General Arrangements, Piping Isometrics, P&IDs, Piping Plans, Lines Lists, and Tie-In Lists.
• Coordinate conceptual physical design requirements with supervisors and engineers.
• Prepare material takeoffs for projects.
• Create field design sketches.
• Review vendor shop drawings and construction drawings as needed.
• Provide piping discipline leadership for projects.
• Offer technical support, clarification, and interpretation of codes and standards for piping design activities.
• Review project deliverables for quality, accuracy, and compliance.
• Determine discipline manpower needs to support project budgets and schedules.
• Lead design teams, assign work duties, and monitor progress.
• Perform piping system component selection, specification, and detailed design.
• Develop project scope documents and installation standards.
• Provide estimates for engineering work.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Degree in Piping/Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with 3D modeling.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or Microstation.
• Relevant drafting/design coursework.
• Knowledge of pipe stress, supports, fabrication, and equipment layouts.
• Working knowledge of piping components, valves, supports, insulation, and installation.
• Minimum 5 years of piping systems design experience.
• Project experience in petrochemical or refinery environments.
• Team player with effective interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, and meet deadlines.
• Proactive problem solver with attention to safety and detail.
• Strong business acumen and collaboration skills.
• Outstanding communication and presentation abilities.
