Qualifications

Piping Designer - Position and Responsibilities

As a Piping Designer with Middough, you will create and establish complex designs consistent with good practices, client requirements, and conformance to Codes & Standards. You will apply standard drafting techniques to generate and interpret drawings, supporting assigned projects and ensuring all Company design standards and practices are followed.

  1. Establish simple designs consistent with piping good practices, client requirements, and conformance to Codes & Standards.
  2. Collect and prepare data/information and generate design and detail drawings, including orthographic and isometric drawings.
  3. Apply standard drafting techniques to generate and interpret drawings, providing guidance and leadership to drafters to ensure standards are met.
  4. Manage and maintain project documentation such as flat files, reference/stick files, and CAD drawings.
  5. Coordinate work tasks with the Piping Manager.
  6. Interact with internal teams and participate in meetings to convey project design and identify scope changes.
Education, Experience, and Skills

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Associate Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent (preferred but not necessary).
  • 5+ years of experience in designing piping systems in refinery or petrochemical settings.
  • Experience in piping design, working with isometrics, creating engineering/construction packages, field sketching, and climbing.
  • Preferred experience in refining or petrochemical industries.
  • MicroStation 2D experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Codes and Standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
  • Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Physical Requirements

While performing this role, the candidate will:

  • Remain stationary or sit for prolonged periods.
  • Frequently walk, reach, climb stairs, and perform other physical activities.
  • Use up-close and distance vision, and adjust focus as needed.
  • May be exposed to adverse environmental conditions at client sites, including noise, extreme temperatures, and poor air quality.
  • May require travel to other company locations or client sites.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
