About the opportunity: Staff Piping Designer

C&I is a full-service engineering design firm providing engineering/design/project management and procurement services to various clients. We are seeking a Staff Piping Designer to join our Plant Design team, responsible for preparing studies, sketches, drawings, and models of equipment arrangements and piping layouts. The role involves computer-based modeling, design, and planning tasks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing equipment arrangements using vendor data and design criteria.
  • Creating piping layouts and 3D models for complex systems independently, utilizing P&ID's, pipe specs, EAs, and vendor data, with knowledge of industry standards and codes.
  • Gathering field information and developing field sketches; fieldwork at plant sites may require climbing, walking, and working in adverse weather conditions.
  • Leading small projects (2-3 person teams) to meet schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Developing piping design scopes, effort estimates, resource-loaded schedules, vendor print reviews, and coordinating across disciplines.

Minimum requirements:

  • One of the following:
  • Two-year technical degree with specialized training in CAD drafting and 15 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering from a non-ABET accredited program with 15 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering technology with 13 years of related experience.

Additional requirements include the ability to travel up to 10%, compliance with drug-free workplace policies, ability to obtain TWIC, and a valid driver’s license.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD & CADWorx, experience with laser scanning.
  • Experience in Refinery & Petrochemical Industries.
  • Prior lead experience.
