Expect to perform PAUT, UT, MT, VT and related NDE tasks on live and excavated pipelines, with emphasis on safety and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • ASNT Level II UT certification or certifiable.
  • Two years pipeline inspection experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel nationwide (100% travel).
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Experience operating PAUT equipment in field environments.
  • TWIC card obtainable.
  • TOFD, MT, NACE CP-1 certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of PHMSA, API 1104, OSHA.

Responsibilities

The Pipeline PAUT/NDE Technician is responsible for performing Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Visual Testing (VT), and other nondestructive examinations on natural gas and hazardous liquid pipelines. The technician will perform inspections on live and excavated pipeline assets, evaluate and characterize anomalies, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings to customers and project management personnel. This position requires strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in challenging field environments throughout North America.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Actively participate in Company and Client safety programs and initiatives.
  • Perform PAUT, UT, MT, VT, and other NDE examinations on pipeline systems and associated facilities.
  • Conduct weld inspections, seam evaluations, crack detection, corrosion characterization, and anomaly sizing utilizing Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing technology.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate PAUT instruments, scanners, and data acquisition systems in accordance with approved procedures and customer specifications.
  • Analyze and interpret A-Scan, B-Scan, C-Scan, and S-Scan data to identify and characterize pipeline anomalies.
  • Perform integrity dig inspections, anomaly verifications, and fitness-for-service evaluations.
  • Verify inspection compliance with applicable procedures, customer specifications, and industry standards.
  • Generate accurate and detailed inspection reports documenting examination results and anomaly evaluations.
  • Interface directly with customer representatives, project managers, and field personnel.
  • Maintain NDE equipment and ensure all calibration records are current.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, environmental, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Recognize, communicate, and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Complete daily reports, timesheets, expense reports, and customer documentation accurately and on time.
  • Support field crews and project teams as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to Company Code of Conduct and Expectations.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred two (2) years of pipeline inspection experience.
  • ASNT Level II Ultrasonic Testing (UT) certification or certifiable.
  • Experience operating PAUT equipment in field environments.
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel extensively (100% nationwide travel required).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card.
  • TOFD Certification preferred.
  • ASNT Level II Magnetic Particle (MT) Certification preferred.
  • NACE CP-1 Certification preferred.
  • Experience with pipeline integrity management programs preferred.
  • Experience with integrity digs and anomaly verification projects preferred.
  • Familiarity with Olympus (Evident), Eddyfi, or equivalent PAUT systems preferred.
  • Experience operating encoded scanners and digital data acquisition equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of pipeline construction, operation, and integrity assessment programs.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations and standards including:
    • PHMSA Regulations
    • API 1104
    • OSHA Requirements

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld maps, and inspection procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Good vision (corrected or uncorrected) and balance
