Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Pipeline Engineer in Salt Lake City, UT. The role focuses on designing high‑pressure steel natural gas pipelines for feeder-line replacement, ensuring compliance with CFR Part 192 and company standards.

Responsibilities include routing/layout support, valve placement, and crossings; code compliance; stress analyses; material/specification management; and coordination with cross‑functional teams. 12‑month assignment with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering with 4–7 years of relevant experience.
• Foundational knowledge of high-pressure steel pipeline materials and construction practices.
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, collaboration tools, and engineering analysis software; excellent communication abilities.

• Provide technical and design support for pipeline routing and layout.
• Determine block and tap valve placement and design pipeline crossings for rivers, interstates, and highways using open-dig or trenchless methods.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and best practices.
• Perform engineering analyses of pipeline stress, considering internal pressure, external loads, thermal expansion, soil loads, seismic effects, and more.
• Specify pipe materials and coatings, procure materials, and prepare documentation (calculations, forms, checklists).
• Track project schedules, monitor budgets, and develop pressure test procedures.
• Support commissioning activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams (design drafting, right-of-way agents, cathodic protection engineers, environmental specialists).
• Report to a supervisor or manager.

Pipeline Engineer is responsible for the design of high‑pressure steel natural gas pipelines for the Feeder‑Line Replacement program, ensuring all analysis, installation, commissioning, operability, and integrity regulatory requirements and company standards are met or exceeded, including Code of Federal Regulations Part 192.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical and design support for pipeline routing and layout.
• Determine block and tap valve placement and design pipeline crossings for rivers, interstates, and highways using open‑dig or trenchless methods.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and best practices.
