Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP is seeking a Coating Inspector to oversee coating work on pipeline projects. The role involves ensuring compliance with client policies, verifying coating and field procedures, and documenting daily inspections.

The inspector may also double as a Utility Inspector when qualified, supporting HDD work and as-built data collection. The position requires a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, MS Office skills, and at least two years in gas pipeline construction

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) skills required.
• Ability to read, interpret and implement client policies.
• Minimum two years coordinating and inspecting natural gas pipeline projects.
• Read construction drawings, alignment sheets and valve maps.
• Experience inspecting field applied pipeline coatings.
• Knowledge of 49 CFR 192, ASME 31.8 and OSHA standards.
• NACE CIP Level 1 certification required.
• Onboarding may include essential training such as Operator Qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect other contractors’ work for compliance with permit and one-call requirements.
• Verify use of necessary equipment, safety measures, and records.
• Ensure adherence to client coatings and field coating procedures.
• Document, daily inspection forms and triplicate reports for safety and quality.
• Witness HDD pull-throughs and verify coating integrity on pipe and welds.
• Ensure proper pipe padding, bedding and safe lowering into trenches.
• Coordinate with survey crews for accurate as-built information.
