Job summary

HEI Civil in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an experienced Pipelayer to join our heavy civil team. You will set grades, verify elevations, and lay and connect water, sewer, and storm pipelines, following blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors.

Expect to work safely on site, adhere to OSHA, and assist with grade and trench work. Flexibility to work nights and weekends is required; physical effort includes lifting up to 60 lbs and repeated digging and assembly tasks.

Qualifications

• Education: GED or high school diploma.
• Experience: 1 year preferred, but not required.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Set proper grades and elevations i.e. flowline, grade stick, string line
• Check slopes for conformance to grading elevations, using levels or lasers
• Connect bell and spigot, sewer and water pipelines
• Cover pipes with aggregate and native material and compact
• Hand dig bell holes to verify existing utility locations
• Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools
• Install and repair water, storm-water and sewer structures and pipe systems within trench shoring shields
• Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors
• Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes and behaviors
• Ability to take direction from the Foreman and provide support to peers
• Work safely while adhering to HEI requirements and OSHA regulations
• Maintain dependability and responsibility to be at work on time

• General knowledge of underground utility work including materials, methods, and tools involved in the installation
• Track record of performing similar tasks safely and accuratelyAbility to repetitively lift and carry at least 60 lbs. on a consistent basis
• Must have flexibility to work nights and weekends

Education and Experience:

• Education: GED or high school diploma
