Job summary

HEI Civil in Phoenix is hiring an experienced Pipelayer to join our heavy civil team. You will set grades and elevations, lay out pipe routes, and install water/sewer pipelines while maintaining safety standards on project sites.

Candidates should have GED or HS diploma, with 1 year of experience preferred. Must be able to lift 60 lbs and be available for nights and weekends as needed and will work on groundworks across roadways and utilities.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• 1 year experience preferred but not required.
• Must be able to lift 60 lbs repeatedly.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Set proper grades and elevations i.e. flowline, grade stick, string line.
• Check slopes for conformance to grading elevations, using levels or lasers.
• Connect bell and spigot, sewer and water pipelines.
• Cover pipes with aggregate and native material and compact.
• Hand dig bell holes to verify existing utility locations.
• Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
• Install and repair water, storm-water and sewer structures and pipe systems within trench shoring shields.
• Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors.
• Assure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes and behaviors.
• Ability to take direction from the Foreman and provide support to peers.
• Work safely while adhering to HEI requirements and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain dependability and responsibility to be at work on time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• General knowledge of underground utility work including materials, methods, and tools involved in the installation
• Track record of performing similar tasks safely and accurately
• Ability to repetitively lift and carry at least 60 lbs. on a consistent basis
• Must have flexibility to work nights and weekends

Education and Experience:

• Education: GED or high school diploma
• Experience: 1 year experience is preferred; but not required
