Job summary

MWH Constructors in Austin, Texas, is seeking an experienced Pipefitter to support a critical wastewater treatment plant construction project.

You will install and assemble pipe systems, read plans, and coordinate with the mechanical superintendent to meet project schedules while adhering to safety practices on site.

This position requires physical fitness, focus, and a commitment to quality under demanding conditions.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience with flanged pipe and fittings.
• Experience with HDPE, Ductile PVC, and copper pipe.
• Ability to communicate information, ideas, and directions safely.
• Pre-employment drug screening and background checks.
• Physically fit for the work.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety program and follow supervisor directions.
• Configure pipe system layout with mechanical superintendent.
• Select pipes, hangers, and hydraulic components.
• Assemble materials at the job site.
• Cut, thread, and hammer pipes per specs.
• Use saws and torches to craft proper sizes.
• Secure pipes to walls, tanks, and fixtures.
• Repair and maintain pipe systems and components.
• Interpret plans, blueprints and sketches.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

Adhere to the MWH safety programCoordinate with mechanical superintendent to configure pipe system layoutSelect proper pipes hangers and other hydraulic cylindersAssemble materials at job siteSelect type and size of pipeCut thread and hammer pipes according to pipe system specsUse saws and cutting torches to craft proper sizesSecure pipes to walls and fixtures using brackets clamps tools or welding equipmentSecure pipes to tanksSet Process Equipment pumps mixers heat exchangersRepair and maintain pipe systems and componentsResolve problems such as obstructions or holesRemove water from flooded manholes or basementsRepair cracks and leaksInterprets plans blueprints and sketches of proposed structures in terms of the relevant specificationsPerform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of ageMust have a valid drivers licenseExperience with flanged pipe and fittingsPrevious work includes HDPE Ductile PVC and copper pipeMaintains a constant drive to achieve production outputs in order to meet targetsRequired to communicate information ideas directions with the capability to perform the task or project discussedMust be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and with utmost regard to safetyPre employment drug screening and background checks requiredIf requested the applicant shall furnish a written statement from a medical doctor that heshe has had a physical examination in connection with the application and are physically fit to perform the work
