CORE Group seeks an experienced Pipefitter Foreman to lead and supervise pipefitting crews in a shipyard setting. The ideal candidate has hands-on pipefitting experience and prior leadership in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, or heavy fabrication environments, with the ability to read blueprints,

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in pipefitting or related shipyard environments.
  • Experience as Pipefitter Foreman or crew lead.
  • Ability to read blueprints, piping drawings and isometrics.
  • Strong safety and quality mindset; shipyard experience preferred.

Pipefitter Foreman

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Pipefitter Foreman to lead and supervise pipefitting crews in a shipyard environment. This position is responsible for coordinating daily work activities, directing manpower, and ensuring piping systems are installed, fabricated, and tested according to shipyard drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on pipefitting experience and previous experience leading crews in a shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, industrial, or heavy fabrication environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct pipefitters and helpers performing shipyard piping work.

  • Plan and coordinate daily manpower, work assignments, and production activities.

  • Read and interpret ship drawings, piping diagrams, blueprints, isometric drawings, and specifications.

  • Oversee pipe fabrication, installation, fit‑up, alignment, and support installation.

  • Coordinate installation of piping systems throughout vessels and shipboard compartments.

  • Ensure piping is installed according to approved drawings, specifications, and applicable procedures.

  • Verify pipe routing, dimensions, alignment, and proper fit‑up before welding or final installation.

  • Coordinate with welders, structural trades, QA/QC, engineering, and other shipyard departments.

  • Monitor crew productivity and ensure work remains on schedule.

  • Troubleshoot piping installation and fit‑up issues.

  • Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, materials, and safety equipment.

  • Conduct toolbox meetings and communicate daily assignments and safety requirements.

  • Enforce shipyard safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.

  • Track manpower, hours, material usage, and production progress.

  • Train, coach, and provide direction to pipefitting personnel.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by shipyard management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in pipefitting, shipbuilding, ship repair, industrial construction, or a similar environment.

  • Previous experience as a Pipefitter Foreman, Leadman, Supervisor, or Crew Lead.

  • Strong understanding of industrial and marine piping systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, piping drawings, isometrics, and specifications.

  • Experience with pipe fabrication, fit‑up, installation, and alignment.

  • Ability to supervise and coordinate multiple employees.

  • Strong understanding of pipefitting tools, equipment, and installation methods.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, QA/QC, and other trades.

  • Strong commitment to safety and quality.

  • DOD, Navy, or government shipyard experience is highly preferred.
