Job summary

St. Johns Ship Building Inc. in Palatka, FL is seeking a Pipe Supervisor to oversee pipe fabrication, installation, testing and repair aboard vessels. You will supervise pipe fitters, welders and helpers, plan work to meet schedules, and ensure quality per ABS/USCG/NAVSEA and safety standards.

The role requires strong leadership, reading complex drawings, and coordinating with engineering, QA, planning and other trades. On-site shipyard work with emphasis on safety and productivity.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum 5+ years shipyard pipe fitting or piping installation.
  • 3+ years supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of ABS, U.S. Coast Guard, OSHA, and NAVSEA standards when applicable.
  • Experience with hydraulic, fuel, firemain, potable water, sewage, HVAC piping, compressed air, and cooling water systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of pipe fitters, pipe welders, and pipe helpers.
  • Plan, assign, and prioritize work to meet production schedules and deadlines.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, isometric piping drawings, P&IDs, and work packages.
  • Ensure proper fabrication, installation, alignment, and testing of piping systems.
  • Coordinate hydrostatic, pneumatic, and operational testing of piping systems.
  • Monitor quality of workmanship and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and enforce OSHA and shipyard safety procedures.
  • Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies before QA inspections.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Production, QA, Planning, and other trades to resolve issues.

# Pipe SupervisorSt. Johns Ship Building Inc - Palatka, FL 32177-8485## DescriptionThe Pipe Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all pipe fabrication, installation, testing, and repair activities aboard vessels and within the shipyard. This position supervises pipe fitters, pipe welders, and helpers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with production schedules, engineering drawings, and quality standards. Prefer experience working in a shipyard. Two or more years of experience supervising subordinate staff, prefer experience supervising trade staff.
