# Pipe SupervisorSt. Johns Ship Building Inc - Palatka, FL 32177-8485## DescriptionThe Pipe Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all pipe fabrication, installation, testing, and repair activities aboard vessels and within the shipyard. This position supervises pipe fitters, pipe welders, and helpers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with production schedules, engineering drawings, and quality standards. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.**Key Responsibilities*** Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of pipe fitters, pipe welders, and pipe helpers.* Plan, assign, and prioritize work to meet production schedules and project deadlines.* Interpret engineering drawings, isometric piping drawings, P&IDs, and work packages.* Ensure proper fabrication, installation, alignment, and testing of piping systems.* Coordinate hydrostatic, pneumatic, and operational testing of piping systems.* Monitor quality of workmanship and ensure compliance with company standards and customer specifications.* Conduct daily toolbox talks and enforce all OSHA and shipyard safety procedures.* Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies before QA inspections.* Coordinate with Engineering, Production, QA, Planning, and other trades to resolve production issues.* Track labor hours, productivity, and material usage.* Identify manpower needs and assist with workforce planning.* Train, mentor, and evaluate employees to improve performance and skill development.* Maintain accurate production reports and communicate project status to management.* Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and company assets.## Qualifications* High school diploma or GED required.* 7+ years of shipyard pipe fitting and piping installation experience.* 3+ years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.* Extensive knowledge of shipboard piping systems, including:* Hydraulic* Fuel* Firemain* Potable water* Sewage* HVAC piping* Compressed air* Cooling water systems* Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.* Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.* Working knowledge of ABS, U.S. Coast Guard, OSHA, and NAVSEA standards (when applicable).* Proficient with Microsoft Office and production reporting systems.* Must be able to obtain and maintain access to government-controlled projects.* **U.S. citizenship required.****Preferred Qualifications*** Previous supervisory experience in commercial or government shipbuilding.* Experience with aluminum and steel vessel construction.* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.* NCCER Pipefitting certification or equivalent is a plus.**Education :*** High school diploma or GED required.* Technical or vocational training in Pipefitting, Marine Systems, Industrial Maintenance, or a related trade preferred.* NCCER Pipefitter certification or equivalent trade certification is preferred but not required.* Additional training in OSHA safety, leadership, or supervisory development is considered a plus.* Relevant military or maritime technical training may be considered in lieu of formal vocational education.**Experience :** Five or more years related experience . Prefer experience working in a shipyard. Two or more years of experience supervising subordinate staff, prefer experience supervising trade staff.
