An established industry player is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join their Facility Maintenance Service Line. This role involves modifying, maintaining, and repairing a variety of piping systems, ensuring efficient operation within the facility. This Pipefitter position is located in the Facility Maintenance Service Line at the Department of Veterans Affairs, VHA Connecticut, West Haven Campus, under the HVAC & Mechanical Pipe Shop Supervisor. The role involves modifying, maintaining, and repairing a variety of high, medium, and low-pressure piping systems.

Experience: Demonstrated training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of the position. Evidence should be detailed in your resume. Applicants will be rated according to the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
Screen-Out Element: Your qualifications will be initially evaluated against the screen-out element, typically question 1 in the online questionnaire. Those meeting the minimum requirements will be considered further; others will be ineligible. Eligibles are then rated against other job elements including equipment assembly, interpreting instructions, measurement and layout, technical practices, troubleshooting, tool maintenance, and ability to work independently.
Volunteer work and unpaid experience, including through programs like Peace Corps or AmeriCorps, are credited towards experience requirements, provided duties and hours are clearly indicated.
Note: A full year of work is considered 35-40 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited proportionally. Clearly specify duties, responsibilities, and hours worked per week in each position to receive appropriate credit.
