Job Description Summary
The Pipefitter is responsible for completing the mechanical tasks associated with the maintenance activities in his/her area. The successful candidate should be a problem solver experienced in mechanical maintenance of manufacturing equipment. He/she should possess the ability to conduct preventive and predictive maintenance procedures, troubleshoot equipment failures, complete production machine set-ups and change-overs, and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time while working.
For certain positions, individuals must be able to wear a respirator.
Individuals will be subject to extensive security background check, educational, employment and post-offer physical exam and drug test.
Extensive training will be required in order to meet all regulatory, safety and security requirements.
Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted on a regular basis.
Must be willing to work a rotating shift schedule including nights and weekends.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Journeyman Pipefitter or an Associates Degree in Applied Science or equivalent certification program from a technical school with an emphasis in Pipefitting and/or equipment mechanics. Equivalent relevant years of experience in these fields of study will also be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum of one to three years’ experience (five to seven years experience preferred) as a Maintenance Pipefitter in a manufacturing facility; experience in an FDA controlled industry is preferred.
- Experience with mechanical equipment repair is essential.
Skills/Competencies:
- Knowledge of cGMP Guidelines and Mechanical Piping Specifications is a plus. Welding capability is a plus.
- Familiarity with and full adherence to cGMP, OSHA, FED regulations required.
- Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted on a regular basis.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Maintenance Pipefitter will work primarily in a manufacturing environment with the possibility of a rotating shift schedule. Manufacturing areas are not climate controlled. During summer months, building exhaust fans provide ventilation. Chemicals handled include acids and bases, organic solvents, and inorganic compounds. Chemicals may have characteristic odors or hazardous properties that require special handling. Office and Manufacturing environment may require use of personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses and work boots. Additional PPE may be required on some occasions.
The position pays $41.17 per hour.
