Position Overview

The Pipefitter will have knowledge of isometric piping, oxygen and acetylene cutting, basic rigging, and operation of pneumatic and electric tools. Candidates must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively. Passing a fitter's test prior to employment is required.

Responsibilities

1. Read and interpret blueprints, ISO field installations, material takeoffs, field sketches, and understand specifications.
2. Fabricate and install screw pipe, socket weld pipe, stainless steel pipe, and carbon steel pipe.
3. Miter and fabricate all types of pipe.
4. Use beveling machines and grinders to prepare pipes/tubes for welding.
5. Lay out pipe penetrations.
6. Install piping in pipe racks of all sizes.
7. Install valves, pipe hangers, and supports.
8. Perform proper bolt-up of pipe and valve flanges.
9. Assist other craft workers as needed.
10. Perform tack welding with TIG.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs.
• Repetitive use of hands/arms and legs.
• Good hand/eye coordination.
• Effective communication skills (hear, comprehend, speak).
• Ability to perform sedentary to heavy work.
• Operate hand and power tools (electric, gas, pneumatic).
• Climb and maintain balance on frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• Use hands for grasping, lifting, handling, and feeling objects.
• Prolonged bending, twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching, squatting, pushing/pulling, standing, and lifting may be required.
• Work in confined spaces and on uneven surfaces.
