Summary
Certifies, fabricates, assembles, installs, alters, maintains, and dismantles all piping and plumbing, including hangers and supports, as well as pipe cutting, bending, and welding activities necessary to perform the task.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Certifies, fabricates, assembles, installs, alters, maintains, and dismantles all piping and plumbing, including hangers and supports, as well as pipe cutting, bending, and welding activities necessary to perform the task.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs piping on refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning equipment. Installs and dismantles unit heaters, coolers, shell-type heat exchangers, tanks, and package boilers. Installs filters, seals, and packing on air, refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning equipment, except compressors, in the shop for rebuild.
- Certifies, installs, adjusts, and maintains items such as gauges, regulators, temperature control devices, recording instruments, and flow meters, excluding calibration.
- Installs insulation and coverings on all piping and equipment as described above.
- May lubricate equipment when necessary in the performance of related tasks.
- Uses all tools and equipment pertinent to the task, including hand or power tools, to hoist and move personnel and materials, excluding mobile cranes.
- May transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from the job site for use by employees in the Pipefitter classification.
- Performs related tasks as necessary to complete primary work in the Pipefitter classification.
- May perform cleaning of roof cooling towers as required.
- Works from prints, sketches, specifications, and instructions, and completes related paperwork.
Minimum Qualifications
- US Citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain US DOE Q level clearance.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to work any shift.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Journeyman Pipefitter.
- At least three (3) years of pipe fitting experience, including installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Nitrogen, Compressed Air, Argon, Carbon Dioxide, High Pressure Water, and Hydraulic systems.
- Experience with Cryovac, high vacuum detection, and troubleshooting.
- Experience insulating pipes and testing pressure relief devices, with ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Experience with machining equipment, laser alignment, PLC/computer control systems maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in refrigeration systems, vacuum systems, and machine tools.
