Position Summary - Pipefitter
The Pipefitter will be responsible for laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, and industrial processing systems.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Promote and comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
- Select appropriate types and sizes of pipes and related materials according to job specifications.
- Inspect worksite to identify obstructions and ensure holes do not compromise structural integrity.
- Plan installation sequence to avoid obstructions and coordinate with other construction activities.
- Cut pipes using bandsaws, pipe cutters, or oxy-acetylene torches.
- Thread pipes using threading machines.
- Assemble and install various metal and non-metal pipes and fittings, including brass, copper, carbon steel, and stainless steel.
- Join pipes through welding, threading, soldering, brazing, or pressing methods.
- Secure pipes to structures using clamps, brackets, and hangers with hand tools.
- Install and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including chillers, AHUs, RTUs, cooling towers, pumps, and pneumatic controls.
- Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and observing gauges.
- Travel to different job sites as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4+ years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).

- Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Physical Demands
- Work up to 10-hour shifts performing physically demanding tasks in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
- Maintain physical strength and stamina; lift objects up to 50 pounds; perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and climbing.
- Work in environments with extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, odors, and loud noises.
- Wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven areas, including heights, following safety protocols.
- Evaluate information based on measurable standards and interpret drawings in three dimensions.
