Job summary

MDU Construction Services Group, Inc is seeking a pipefitter to install, assemble, maintain, and repair piping systems in industrial facilities. You will read blueprints, interpret specifications, and work with a team to ensure safe, compliant operations.

The role requires hands-on skills with fittings, welding, and testing, plus a focus on quality and reliability in high-demand environments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of pipefitting experience in an industrial setting preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 safety certification or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems in industrial settings.
  • Layout and install pipe systems, supports, and related equipment.
  • Use pipe cutters, threading machines, welding tools to join pipes by welding, brazing, soldering, cementing or threading.
  • Fabricate pipe spools and components per project requirements.
  • Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, or pressure issues in piping systems.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to plan layouts per design and standards.
  • Test piping systems for leaks using hydrostatic or air pressure tests.
  • Lead and train helpers, mechanics, and fitters under supervision.
  • Conduct regular inspections for safe and efficient operation.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that carry various substances like steam, water, chemicals, or gases in industrial settings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of experience in pipefitting, preferably in an industrial environment
  • OSHA 10 or 30 safety certification or willingness to obtain one
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Strong mathematical skills for measurements and calculations
  • Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of different piping systems and materials and industrial standards
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that carry various substances like steam, water, chemicals, or gases in industrial settings.
  • Layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related equipment
  • Use various tools and equipment, such as pipe cutters, threading machines, and welding tools to join pipes by means of welding, brazing, soldering, cementing, gluing, or threading them
  • Fabricate pipe spools and components as per project requirements using various welding and fitting techniques
  • Diagnose and repair faults in piping systems, including leaks, blockages, or pressure issues.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to plan the layout of piping systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards
  • Test piping systems for leaks using methods like hydrostatic testing or air pressure tests
  • Lead and instruct mechanical piping helpers, mechanics, and fitters under your supervision
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure systems operate efficiently and safely
  • Other tasks as assigned
