Job summary

MDU Construction Services Group, Inc. is seeking an industrial plumber to install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair plumbing systems carrying water, waste, chemicals, and gases in industrial settings.

You will read drawings, follow NC Plumbing Codes, and work with piping, valves, fittings, fixtures, and equipment. The role requires hands-on problem solving, safety discipline, and supervision of helpers on site.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of experience in industrial plumbing.
• Preferred Journeyman or Med-Gas certifications.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair plumbing systems carrying water, waste, chemicals, or gases in industrial settings.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to plan layouts.
• Layout, install, and maintain underground and above-ground pipe systems and supports.
• Operate heavy machinery (e.g., backhoes, trenchers, excavators) and obtain relevant certifications as needed.
• Use pipe cutters, threading machines, and bending tools to join pipes by various methods (braze, solder, cement, compression, press, threading).
• Install and connect plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, water heaters).
• Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, or pressure issues; test systems for leaks (hydrostatic, air, or 10ft heat test).
• Lead and instruct helpers, mechanics, and fitters; conduct regular inspections for safety and efficiency.

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems that carry various fluids including water, waste, chemicals, or gases in industrial settings. Systems include piping, valves, fittings, fixtures, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and;
• 1+ years of experience in industrial plumbing

Preferred Qualifications

• Journeyman Level Tradesmen Certification
• Certification in Med-Gas

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
• Strong mathematical skills for measurements and calculations
• Strong understanding of NC Plumbing Codes and industry standards

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems that carry various fluids including water, waste, chemicals, gases in industrial settings. Systems include piping, valves, fittings, fixtures, and equipment.
• Strong understanding of plumbing systems, materials, and industrial standards
• Layout, assemble, install, and maintain underground and above-ground pipe systems, pipe supports, and related equipment
• Ability to run and become certified in the operation of heavy machinery including backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, and excavation equipment
• Use various tools and equipment, such as pipe cutters, threading machines, compression tools, press tools, and bending tools to join pipes by means of brazing, soldering, cementing, gluing, compression, press, or threading
• Install and connect a range of plumbing fixtures including but not limited to sinks, toilets, and water heaters
• Diagnose and repair faults in piping systems, including leaks, blockages, or pressure issues.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to plan the layout of plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards
• Test plumbing piping systems for leaks using methods like 10' heat test, hydrostatic testing, or air pressure test
• Lead and instruct plumbing helpers, mechanics, and fitters under your supervision
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure systems operate efficiently and safely
• Other tasks as assigned
