Job summary

SE&M Constructors, LLC seeks a skilled pipe welder to install, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems in industrial environments.

The role requires reading blueprints, performing high-quality welds in GTAW (Tig) and SMAW (stick) up to 6G, and leading piping helpers to ensure safety and compliance with standards. Strong math skills and knowledge of carbon steel, stainless steel, copper and aluminum are essential, as is passing a 6G weld test.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to pass 6G Welding test.

Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems in industrial settings.
• Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and industry standards.
• Familiarity with pipe materials: carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum.
• Use welding machines, grinders, torches, and cutting systems.
• Follow Weld Procedure Specifications and equipment setup for various materials and wall thicknesses.
• Fabricate pipe spools and components using welding and fitting techniques.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to plan piping layouts; ensure compliance with design specs and codes.
• Test piping systems for leaks using hydrostatic or air pressure tests.
• Ensure all work meets quality standards and codes; lead and instruct helpers, mechanics, and fitters.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.
• Other tasks as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that carry various substances like steam, water, chemicals, or gases in industrial settings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to pass 6G Welding test

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
• Strong mathematical skills for measurements and calculations
• Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of different piping systems and material
• Proven ability to perform high-quality welds in either GTAW (Tig) and/or SMAW (stick) welding processes in various positions up to and including 6G

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow established Weld Procedure Specifications and equipment setup within parameters for amperage, voltage, gas flow to cover multiple material types and wall thicknesses
• Fabricate pipe spools and components as per project requirements using various welding and fitting techniques
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to plan the layout of piping systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards
• Test piping systems for leaks using methods like hydrostatic testing or air pressure tests
• Ensure all work meets quality standards and industry codes
• Lead and instruct mechanical piping helpers, mechanics, and fitters
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure systems operate efficiently and safely
• Other tasks as assigned
