Job summary

ProChem Inc. in Virginia seeks experienced Pipefitters to join our Water Systems Fabrication & Installation crew.

This role covers the fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, maintenance and repair of industrial piping systems at customer facilities across the United States. Candidates must read piping drawings and P&IDs, install PVC/CPVC/HDPE and metal piping, operate hand and power tools, and comply with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Pipefitting experience in industrial, commercial or construction environments.
• Experience installing, fabricating, modifying and repairing PVC, CPVC, HDPE, stainless steel and carbon steel piping.
• Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, P&IDs, schematics and installation plans.
• Experience with pipe layout, measurement, cutting, threading, grooving and assembly.
• Knowledge of valves, pumps, strainers, flow meters and other liquid-handling equipment.
• Welding experience (plastic fusion, TIG, MIG, stick) preferred.
• Experience using pipefitting hand tools, power tools, rigging and fabrication machinery.
• Understanding of pressure testing, leak testing, and system commissioning.

We are seeking experienced Pipefitters to join our Water Systems Fabrication & Installation crew. This position is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of industrial piping systems, wastewater/water treatment systems, pumps, valves, and related process equipment at customer facilities throughout the United States.

Travel Requirement

This position requires frequent travel, out of state and local, including overnight and extended periods over weekends (for installations) all over the United States. Travel expenses are paid by the company on a company credit card. Additionally, you will be paid a 10% travel premium for hours worked during travel and on travel days.

Desired previous experience and skills:

• Pipefitting experience in industrial, commercial, or construction environments.
• Experience installing, fabricating, modifying, and repairing PVC, CPVC, HDPE, stainless steel, carbon steel, and other process piping systems.
• Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, P&IDs, schematics, specifications, and installation plans.
• Experience with pipe layout, measurement, cutting, threading, grooving, fitting, and assembly.
• Knowledge of valves, pumps, strainers, flow meters, and other liquid-handling equipment.
• Welding experience (plastic fusion welding, TIG, MIG, stick, or structural welding) preferred.
• Experience using pipefitting hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, and fabrication machinery.
• Understanding of pressure testing, leak testing, and system commissioning procedures.
• Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Experience working safely in industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, construction sites, and confined spaces.
• Ability to work from project schedules and complete installations according to quality and safety standards.
• Pipefitter apprenticeship, journeyman certification, welding certifications, or related trade credentials are preferred but not required.

This position must possess a valid Virginia's driver's license and must maintain a driving record acceptable to local authorities and ProChem insurance carriers. Moreover, this position is subject to preemployment and random drug screening.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

This position works in a variety of conditions, including both indoor and outdoor activities during a variety of weather conditions. This individual will be exposed to noise form machinery and a variety of odors. Work hours will vary and overtime hours will be required based on the needs of the project. Travel, including overnight and often extended travel is required.

This position works with and/or around energized equipment, fabrication tools and machinery, corrosive chemicals, pressurized equipment, confined spaces, and industrial machinery.

This position requires moderate activity with bending, stooping, lifting, and ladder work. Individuals in this position will be working with their hands and feet. They will work around electricity, water, plumbing equipment, and a variety of chemicals used for water treatment. Telephone communication is an essential part of the job expectations. This position may require flexibility in work hours, vacation, and other schedule considerations to successfully support company needs.
