Job summary

Therma-Tron-X, Inc. (TTX®) in Wisconsin is hiring a Pipefitter to lay out and install piping, fittings, valves, pumps, and heat exchangers for our industrial finishing systems.

You will read plumbing schematics, work with PVC, CPVC, steel and stainless materials, and join connections by threaded, glued, flanged or welded methods. A high school diploma and apprenticeship or technical training are preferred; travel to customer sites up to 25% annually.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret plumbing schematics and detail drawings.
• Layout with tape measures, levels, square, dividers, rule, plumb bob, string lines, etc.
• Read and do layout with various hand tools for pipe installation and troubleshooting.
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical education is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Layout, install and troubleshoot piping systems (PVC, CPVC, steel, stainless) with fittings, valves, pumps, and heat exchangers.
• Read schematics and detail drawings to guide installation.
• Assemble pipe using threaded, glued, flanged and welded connections.
• Identify and correct improper operation of installed plumbing systems.

Description

Pipefitters are responsible for the practical layout and installation of piping, fittings, valves, pumps, floats, heat exchangers, tank penetrations and misc. system equipment for our industrial finishing systems. Pipefitters must be fluent and able to read and interpret plumbing schematics and detail drawings. Pipefitters must also be experienced with the fitting and joining of PVC, CPVC, black steel, and stainless-steel plumbing materials using threaded, glued, flanged and welded connections.

Required Skills

• Read and understand schematics and detail drawings for layout, installation and troubleshooting
• Read and do layout with tape measures, levels, square, dividers, rule, plumb bob, string lines, etc.
• Common cutting tools such as the band saw, cut off saw, hand plasma torch, tubing cutter, saws-all, hole saw, drill, etc.
• Cut pipe threads with hand and electric powered pipe thread cutting tools
• Use hand tools to assemble pipe
• Safe use of powered lifts and ladders
• Proper use of pipe cement, pipe thread compound, sealing tape etc.
• Identify and correct improper operation of installed plumbing systems

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for a minimum of up to 10 hours per day, with frequent kneeling, squatting, crawling or climbing ladders.
• Frequent bending, twisting, reaching and grasping
• Frequently lift parts up to 50 lbs.
• Must have good eyesight with the ability to read drawings, small print, and see workpieces clearly

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Pipefitting experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical education certificate or degree preferred
• State license preferred
• Must be able to travel to customer sites for installation at a minimum of 25% annually
