Job Summary

The Pipefitter position is a critical role for the company. This individual will follow all safety rules and regulations and work as a part of a team daily. The Pipefitter will work under the guidance of a Field Superintendent or Project Manager depending on the location of the work assignment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
  2. Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.
  3. Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
  4. Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
  5. Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
  6. Cut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power tools.
  7. Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools.
  8. Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.
  9. Turn valves to shut off water or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenches.
  10. Remove and replace worn components.
  11. Prepare cost estimates for clients.
  12. Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness.
  13. Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded areas.
  14. Dip nonferrous piping materials in a molten tin and lead mixture to prevent erosion or galvanic action.
Qualifications
Required Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • OSHA 10 Certification (desired).
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and documentation.
  • Experience operating a forklift and/or scissor lift.
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and other technical software.
  • Experience with project management and construction software.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, see, talk, hear, handle objects, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment

May work outdoors in various weather conditions, exposed to noise, dust, chemicals, and electrical hazards. Must be able to navigate job sites safely.
