Job Description
Position Summary
An Industrial Pipe Fitter will assemble, layout, install, and maintain pipe systems on steam, fluid, or gas systems. The pipe systems may include, but are not limited to, pipe, flanges, supports, valves, gauges, hangars, and angles. Pipe Fitters may work in various parts of the construction or maintenance site, including buildings, outside, and inside structures such as tanks or boilers. The work may also involve working in underground excavations and at heights of up to 300 ft.
Qualification Highlights
- Must have 4+ years of experience as an Industrial Pipe Fitter or Pipe Fitter Helper.
- Ability to read prints and demonstrate thorough knowledge of pipe fitting procedures and skills.
- Good leadership and communication skills.
- Experience on industrial construction projects.
Position Responsibilities
- Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
- Identify all tools required for tasks.
- Identify safety risks and implement precautions to eliminate those risks.
- Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications.
- Install valves, hangers, supports, flanges inside piping systems according to plans and specifications.
- Perform tests to ensure the quality of the pipes and piping systems.
- Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
Reports to Position
- This position does not have direct reports but works closely with and occasionally oversees helpers and laborers. The role holds authority and expertise over these positions.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in industrial construction and maintenance.
- Ability to read construction drawings and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of pipe fitting processes for industrial piping and boiler components, especially in a combined-cycle power plant.
- At least 4+ years of experience in pipe fitting.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Manual dexterity and good aptitude.
- Good reading comprehension.
- Ability to work well with others and independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills.
- Commitment to safety and company values.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous employment with Zachry (ROF'ed or former employee).
- NCCER Certification as an Industrial Pipe Fitter.
- Formal or technical education.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting regularly.
- Communicating verbally and visually.
- Dexterity for precision adjustments.
- Using arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, and operate tools and controls.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Working at heights up to 300 ft, climbing ladders and platforms with proper fall protection.
- Visual abilities to focus, see distances, colors, and perceive depth and peripheral vision.
- Working outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
- Wearing PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, masks, vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
