Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding is hiring an on-site Pipe Welder to join a 24/7 manufacturing environment focused on critical piping systems for naval vessels. Candidates will perform high-precision GTAW/TIG welding on stainless steel and copper-nickel, and will also utilize SMAW and FCAW as needed.

The role requires minimum 2 years of pipe welding experience and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and craftsmanship in a shipyard setting. This is a full-time position with no telework.

  • Minimum 2 years of pipe welding experience.
  • Hands-on pipe welding experience with TIG/GTAW as a primary process.
  • Ability to weld Stainless Steel and Copper-Nickel to exact specs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-precision pipe welding on Stainless Steel and Copper-Nickel using GTAW/TIG.
  • Weld using SMAW and FCAW processes.
  • Work from drawings, specifications, and welding procedures to ensure structural integrity and system reliability.
  • Support ship construction in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Maintain safety standards that meet industry requirements.

Ingalls Pipe Welder

Team: 21 Pipe | Entity: Ingalls Shipbuilding.

US Citizenship required. Full‑time, multiple shifts. No telework or relocation assistance. Travel not required.

As an Ingalls Pipe Welder, you are part of an elite team responsible for welding the critical piping systems that power America’s most advanced naval vessels. You will perform high‑precision pipe welding on stainless steel and copper‑nickel using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG) and support ship construction in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

What You Can Earn
  • Earn up to $39.46 per hour, depending on experience and skill level.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform high‑precision pipe welding on Stainless Steel and Copper‑Nickel using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG).
  • Weld using additional processes including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Flux‑Core Arc Welding (FCAW).
  • Work from drawings, specifications, and welding procedures to ensure structural integrity and system reliability.
  • Support ship construction in a 24/7 manufacturing environment, including working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
  • Maintain safety standards that meet—and often exceed—industry requirements.
