Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Pipe Welder for a contract-to-hire role in Catoosa, OK. You will set up and operate MIG, flux core, and TIG welding equipment to weld pipes and vessels, while reading blueprints and ensuring quality and safety in a busy fabrication shop.

The position requires passing Open Root 3G MIG/Flux Core and 6G TIG tests, strong math skills, and a commitment to safety. Overtime and comprehensive benefits are offered in a fully onsite setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of MIG and flux core welding experience on vessels or heat exchangers.
• Proficiency in MIG welding, flux core welding, TIG welding, and pipe welding.
• Ability to pass an Open Root 3G MIG/Flux Core Fill & Cap weld test.
• Ability to pass a 6G TIG Root/Flux Fill & Cap weld test on 2" Schedule 160 pipe.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Basic safety training and adherence to safety procedures.
• Intermediate math for layout, measurement, and fit-up.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Fitting and fabrication related to pipe welding projects.
• Troubleshoot and adjust welding machines.

Responsibilities

• Set up and safely operate advanced welding equipment for pipe welding applications.
• Plan welding procedures and work sequences to meet project specifications and deadlines.
• Perform MIG, flux core, TIG, and pipe welding on vessels or heat exchangers as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings to complete welds accurately.
• Inspect finished welds and fabricated products to ensure completeness, structural integrity, and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot welding machines and make necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
• Help improve welding procedures to increase safety, efficiency, and overall weld quality.
• Use intermediate math skills and measurement tools, including tape measures, to ensure precise fit-up and fabrication.
• Follow basic safety training and shop safety protocols at all times.
• Successfully complete and maintain proficiency in required weld tests, including Open Root 3G MIG/Flux Core Fill & Cap and 6G TIG Root/Flux Fill & Cap on 2" Schedule 160 pipe.
