Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking an entry-level pipefitter helper in Texas to assist journeyman pipefitters in laying out, fabricating, installing and maintaining piping systems for steam, hot water, and HVAC applications.

You will help select pipes and fittings, inspect worksites, plan installation sequences, cut, thread, bend, and mount piping, test for leaks and observe safety rules. Requires 0–2 years’ experience and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent with 0–2 years of related experience.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks safely and efficiently.
• Reads plans and drawings to visualize objects in three dimensions.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe and related materials per job specifications.
• Inspects worksite to determine obstructions.
• Plans installation sequence to avoid obstructions and conflicts with other workers.
• Cuts pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutter, or cutting tools.
• Threads pipe using threading machine.
• Bends pipe by hand or with bending tools/machines.
• Mounts pipe hangers/brackets on walls/ceilings.
• Assembles and installs pipes and fittings using various joints and tools.
• Tests piping systems for leaks and checks gauges.
• Welds pipe supports to structural members.
