Job summary

HRCP (The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV) seeks a Pipe Welder for the Norfolk, VA area on an expansive design-build project. You will weld to VDOT standards, read blueprints, and support crew with materials, equipment, and quality control.

Requirements include AWS certification, 1–2 years in heavy civil construction, and ability to lift 50 lbs. Overtime, outdoor work, and full-time hours on site are expected on this critical infrastructure project.

Qualifications

• AWS or similar welding certification required.
• 1-2 years’ experience in heavy civil construction preferred.
• Must be able to read and understand heavy construction plans.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Preparing materials: cutting, grinding, cleaning metal surfaces for welds.
• Operating welding equipment and tools to perform welds accurately.
• Quality control: inspect welds for defects and ensure standards.
• Maintaining welding equipment and tools in good condition.
• Following safety procedures and using PPE on site.
• Joining metal pieces with stick, MIG, TIG welding as required.
• Reading blueprints to determine welds and assembly.
