HRCP (The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV) seeks a Pipe Welder for the Norfolk, VA area on an expansive design-build project. You will weld to VDOT standards, read blueprints, and support crew with materials, equipment, and quality control.

The Pipe Welder will work under the supervision of the Foreman. They will perform welding activities in accordance with VDOT welding standards and support operational activities when required by the crew.
The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of Dragados, VINCI, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $4.2 BN Design Build project –the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
The project scope across a 9-mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45’ diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue to the end of 2025.

Qualifications
Required
Preferred
Must be certified by American Welding Society (AWS) or similar group.
1-2 years’ experience in heavy civil construction projects preferred.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must pass the drug screen.
Ability to read and understand a heavy construction plan.
Ability to operate equipment.
Ability to work overtime and flexible hours (day/night)
Ability to work outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.
Knowledge and working experience of DOT standards and regulations.
Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively.
Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Demonstrate your attention to details.
Knowledgeable of safety procedures and practices
Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
Minimum 3 years of welding experience preferred.
Previous experience with and understanding of the pile driving process and heavy equipment preferred.
A valid driver’s License preferred.
High School Diploma preferred
