Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, seeks qualified pipe welders with 3+ years of PIPE WELDING experience. You will weld structural and pipe joints on ships using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and GTAW, performing visual, magnetic particle, ultrasonic and radiographic tests as required.

Welders are first qualified through the shipyard Welding School, then apply skills in a full-time, on-site role with competitive pay, benefits, and 401K.

Qualifications

• Must have 3+ years of PIPE WELDING experience.
• Must be able to take measurements or be willing to learn.
• Must be able to work assigned shift as production needs.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs and pass a respirator fit test.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural and pipe welds in ship construction.
• Utilize SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes in all positions.
• Complete tack, fillet, and full penetration welds to specified standards.
• Extend training through Welding School and perform nondestructive testing requirements.
