Job summary

Kaizen Lab Inc. in Norfolk, VA seeks a skilled Pipefitter to join our shipyard team. The candidate will assemble, install and maintain piping systems in accordance with industry codes and standards.

You will read complex blueprints, cut and shape pipes, and coordinate with other trades to ensure safe, efficient project execution. The role requires 3–5+ years of pipefitting experience in a shipyard, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a crew.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of pipefitter experience in shipyard setting.
• Strong mechanical knowledge focused on pipeline installation and maintenance.
• Familiarity with codes and standards governing piping systems.
• Proficient with hand and power tools for pipe assembly.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and translate blueprints and diagrams to plan pipe layout and installation sequences.
• Cut, bend, and thread pipes using pipecutters, bending machines, and threading machines.
• Ripout, repair, layout, fabricate, install and test marine piping onboard ships.
• Position and install pipes with proper alignment and support structures.
• Use basic math to calculate measurements and material requirements.
• Collaborate with other trades on site to ensure seamless project execution.

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join our team. The ideal candidate willpossess strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to work effectively in ashipyard setting. As a Pipefitter, you will be responsible for assembling,installing, and maintaining piping systems in accordance with industry codesand standards.

Responsibilities

• Accuratelyinterpret and translate complex blueprints and technical drawings to planpipe layout and installation sequences within piping systems.
• Cut,bend, and thread pipes using various hand and power tools like pipecutters, bending machines, and threading machines to achieve precisedimensions.
• Ripout, repair, target, layout, fabricate, install and test marine pipingsystems onboard ships in various stages of repair and modernization.
• Positionand install pipes within designated locations on the ship, ensuring properalignment and support structures are in place.
• Utilizebasic math skills to calculate measurements and material requirementsaccurately.
• Collaboratewith other trades on site to ensure seamless project execution.

Experience

• Atleast 3-5+ years experience as a Pipefitter or in a similar role within theshipyard industry is required.
• Strongmechanical knowledge with a focus on pipeline installation andmaintenance.
• Familiaritywith relevant codes and standards governing piping systems.
