Job summary

Sanders Brothers Construction is seeking a Pipe Layer to support water, sewer and storm drain projects across the Charleston, SC area. The role involves assisting utilities crews with underground installation and ensuring quality bedding and trench grade.

Candidates should have 1–3 years of utility installation experience, a high school diploma or GED, ability to read grades, and willingness to work overtime, weekends and nights. DOT medical certification may be required.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years' experience assisting in utility installation.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read grades and recognize pipe bed requirements.
• Must pass background and safety checks.

Responsibilities

• Support utilities crews during underground water, sewer and drainage installation.
• Follow directions of the utility foreman and equipment operators.
• Work in confined spaces after training.
• Assist with trench boxes and pipe bedding.
• Assist utilities brick mason as needed.
• Assist during utility pipe repairs.
• Maintain sanitation and safety; report concerns to management.
• Ensure pipes are clean and meet quality standards prior to installation.
• Maintain final bedding and trench grade as required.
• Stand and work in various weather conditions for extended periods.
