Responsibilities

• Assist the Pipe Layer and crew with installing underground utility systems.
• Help prepare work areas and pipe routes using plans and supervisor direction.
• Load, unload, move, and organize pipe, fittings, and materials.
• Assist with assembling, installing, and repairing underground piping.
• Help position and align pipe during installation.
• Support grade and elevation checks using levels, lasers, and other measuring tools.
• Measure and prepare pipe and materials for placement.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Perform general labor duties and coordinate with crew members.
• Follow procedures and maintain organized work area.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

The Pipe Layer Helper works alongside experienced crew members to support the installation of underground utility systems, including sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water lines.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Pipe Layer and crew with the installation of underground utility systems, including sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and related infrastructure.
• Help prepare work areas and pipe routes using project plans and supervisor direction.
• Load, unload, move, and organize pipe, fittings, and construction materials.
• Assist with assembling, installing, and repairing underground piping and related components.
• Help position and align pipe during installation.
• Support grade and elevation checks using levels, lasers, and other measuring tools.
• Assist with connecting pipe sections and preparing joints for installation.
• Measure and prepare pipe and materials for placement.
• Help prepare trenches, grade bedding materials, and assist with backfilling activities.
• Perform general labor duties to support daily construction operations.
• Work collaboratively with Pipe Layers, Foremen, Superintendents, and other crew members.
• Follow company procedures and project requirements while maintaining an organized work area.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Interest in learning underground utility installation and heavy civil construction practices.
• Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment is helpful but not required.
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting materials, bending, kneeling, and working on uneven terrain.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn new skills.
• OSHA 10 certification is preferred but not required.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous construction, landscaping, utility, or general labor experience is a plus but not required.
• This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training provided for qualified candidates.
