Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old and have a HS diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Experience leading or supervising a field crew in underground utility construction.
• Experience installing underground sewer, water, or storm utilities.
• Ability to read and follow construction plans, specs, and grade information.
• Knowledge of trench safety and excavation protection systems.
• OSHA 30 and CPR/First Aid certifications are required.
• Experience with municipal, commercial, or client-directed projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise daily pipe crew activities as assigned by the Project Superintendent.
• Plan daily actions to organize tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Communicate project requirements and client expectations to the crew.
• Assign tasks to laborers, pipelayers, and operators based on needs and capabilities.
• Supervise installation of sewer, water, and storm utility systems per plans and standards.
• Ensure proper trenching, bedding, backfill, and compaction of utilities.
• Read construction plans and verify materials meet requirements.
• Coordinate with operators and laborers to safely complete excavation and backfill.
• Ensure OSHA, client, and project safety requirements are followed.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce PPE use.
