D.C. Goodman & Sons is seeking a Sprinkler Fitter Foreman in Huntingdon, PA for a hands-on field leadership role on commercial and institutional projects. You will lead the crew from layout to final inspection, ensuring safety, quality, and code compliance.

You will read blueprints, coordinate with trades, and mentor junior fitters while maintaining strict standards. The role requires 5–8+ years of installation experience and NICET certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years of hands-on fire sprinkler installation including lead or foreman responsibilities.
• Read and interpret fire protection blueprints and hydraulic calculations.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification; valid driver’s license.
• Experience coordinating multi-trade job sites and managing crew schedules.
• NICET Level I or II certification a plus.
• Experience with both new installation and service/repair on existing systems a plus.

This role puts you in charge of the crew and the job site — laying out systems from blueprints, directing fitters, coordinating with other trades, and making sure installs pass inspection the first time. This is an active, hands-on field role on commercial and institutional job sites. You won’t be managing from a distance — you’ll be on the ground with your crew, making real-time decisions, coordinating with other trades, and holding the standard on quality and safety. Overall Purpose

The Sprinkler Fitter Foreman leads crews installing, modifying, and maintaining fire sprinkler and standpipe systems on commercial and institutional job sites — managing day-to-day on-site operations from layout through final inspection while ensuring quality, safety, and code compliance throughout.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Field Leadership & Installation

• Lead and direct a crew of sprinkler fitters on commercial and institutional new construction, renovation, and retrofit projects
• Read and interpret fire protection blueprints, hydraulic calculations, and specs to plan layout and installation sequencing
• Install, modify, and repair wet, dry, pre-action, and standpipe systems including piping (steel, CPVC), hangers, valves, and heads
• Train and mentor junior fitters and apprentices on proper installation techniques and code requirements

Coordination & Inspections

• Coordinate installation schedule and sequencing with other trades on-site — mechanical, electrical, and sheet metal
• Inspect and test completed work to ensure it meets NFPA standards, local fire code, and passes AHJ inspections
• Liaise with facility managers, general contractors, and inspectors on active job sites

Service & Emergency Response

• Respond to service calls and occasional emergency repairs on existing sprinkler systems

Safety & Reporting

• Enforce jobsite safety practices and ensure crew compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
• Track crew hours, material usage, and job progress; communicate delays or issues to the Project Manager

Desired Skills & Experience

• 5-8+ years of hands-on fire sprinkler installation experience including prior lead or foreman-level responsibility
• Ability to read and work from fire protection blueprints and hydraulic calculations
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification; valid driver’s license required
• Experience coordinating multi-trade job sites and managing crew schedules a plus
• NICET Level I or II certification for water-based systems a plus
• Experience with both new installation and service/repair work on existing systems a plus

Physical Requirements

This role is primarily performed in the field on active construction sites. Requirements include frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and working at heights via ladders and mobile lifts. Must be able to operate power tools and equipment including drills, saws, threading machines, and grooving machines. Occasional lifting up to 100 lbs required.
