Job summary

IFDC in Muscle Shoals, AL, is seeking a Technician-Pilot Plant to provide technical and mechanical support for process and product development in the Pilot Plant facilities. You will set up equipment, operate processes, monitor performance, and assist in maintenance and training across various fertilizer operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with relevant work experience.
• 3–5 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing or fertilizer processes.
• Knowledge of nitrogen and phosphate-based fertilizer processes, materials, and equipment.
• Experience handling hazardous/corrosive materials (e.g., ammonia, acids, bases).
• Experience with hot materials (steam, molten urea, molten sulfur).
• Commitment to safety training and PPE usage.

Responsibilities

• Set up plant equipment (solids feeders, conveyors, pumps, etc.).
• Operate plant equipment following safety guidelines and SOPs; record data.
• Monitor processes and adjust equipment as needed.
• Clean and dismantle processes after pilot runs.
• Cross-train and assist in training Associate Technicians.
• Coordinate with engineers and analytical lab to report observations.
