Job summary

Queens Carbon, Inc. in Cedar Grove, NJ, is hiring a Process Technician to operate, maintain, and improve pilot-scale equipment for developing novel cementitious materials.

You will work with the Product Evaluation and Demonstration team to plan scale-up campaigns, ensure reliability, and support process optimization. You'll collaborate with Engineering and R&D, fabricate and modify equipment, conduct preventative maintenance, and help run mini-pilot and in-house demonstration systems to validate

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in mechanical, chemical, industrial, or process technology.
• 2+ years in a process technician, operator, or similar role in pilot plants, labs, or industrial settings.
• Familiarity with pumps, valves, pressure vessels, instrumentation, solid material handling systems.
• Hands-on experience with maintenance, piping, electrical work, and fabrication.
• Strong ability to read and follow technical documentation (SOPs, manuals).
• Willingness to support flexible work hours during commissioning campaigns.
• Prior involvement in equipment installation, shakedown, commissioning, or scale-up preferred.
• Must work full-time in person at Queens Carbon facility, Cedar Grove, NJ.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and monitor pilot- and demonstration-scale process equipment per SOPs.
• Prepare equipment and materials for runs, including setup, calibration, inspection, cleaning.
• Monitor process variables, review trends, log data, respond to alarms.
• Execute sampling and material handling with labeling and traceability.
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Support installation, shakedown, commissioning, and startup of new equipment.
• Maintain records of performance, maintenance, and modifications.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization with safety and repeatability.
• Interface with PLC/HMI to monitor conditions and feed back to engineering.
• Collaborate with R&D and demonstration staff to translate objectives into plans.
• Contribute to SOPs and checklists as processes evolve.
