Job summary

Jobtailor is looking for a dedicated ATC training simulator operator to join our program in the New York area. The role involves running air traffic control training simulators and managing voice communication systems during medium- and high-fidelity exercises.

You will receive live commands from students, input actions into simulators, and translate data into official ATC terminology while maintaining standard phraseology.

Qualifications

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Basic computer proficiency.
Ability to read and interpret diagrams, manuals, and similar materials.
Ability to speak clearly and be understood.
US citizenship required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

Operate as the pilot and other controllers in the air traffic controller training simulator.
Operate simulated radar display and voice communication systems during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises.
Receive voice commands from students.
Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
Respond to students via the voice communication system using proper phraseology.
Complete classroom certification by passing tests on airspace and procedures.
Complete lab certification by performing as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions.
Support FAA air traffic controller training services.

Requirements

Experience working in a multidisciplinary team is desired
ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation lab experience and certification is strongly desired but not required
Effective oral and written communication skills are desired
Working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 is strongly desired but not required
MS Office Suite proficiency is desired
Basic familiarity with current technology tools such as tablets, notebooks, and applications
Basic familiarity with or experience in pilot/controller communications or phraseology

Core Competencies

Demonstrates proficiency in operating air traffic control training simulators and voice communication systems, with a strong understanding of ATC terminology and procedures. Capable of effective communication and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining compliance with FAA standards.
