Job summary

A leading food and beverage company is seeking a Senior Lab Technician to join the Coffee Research & Development team. This role involves brewing coffee samples, performing lab maintenance, and supporting product development by preparing experimental formulations. Job description

Senior Lab Technician, Coffee Research & Development

Your Opportunity as the Senior Lab Technician - Product Development Team, Coffee Research & Development

Location: Orrville, OH Corporate Offices

In this role, you will:

  1. Brewing coffee samples and submitting them for product analysis and cupping.
  2. Performing general lab maintenance utilizing brewing appliances, recording data, labeling, and tracking samples.
  3. Order and maintain inventory of all ingredients (green coffee, flavors, etc.) for the team and manage POs as necessary.
  4. Support the Product Development Team in all product development initiatives by preparing experimental formulations under the guidance of project technical leads.
  5. Follow proper procedures for good laboratory practices (ensuring security, safety, GMP, and quality).
  6. Lead benchtop lab runs and ensure proper testing methods are followed in the lab and/or Pilot Research Lab (PRL).
  7. Perform standard operating procedures and test methods relevant to the role.
  8. Document, summarize, and report data from all product cuppings and studies, noting any unexpected results or observations.
  9. Identify ways to improve methods and develop new approaches to tasks.
  10. Assist with customer visit/event logistics as needed.
  11. Be an area owner for HSE Key Elements or serve as a Quality representative.
  12. Represent Product Development on the Coffee PRL calls, coordinate needs with the PRL team, submit test requests, review pre-test procedures, monitor test progress, and lead inventory management of test materials.

What We Are Looking For
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma with 6 years of laboratory or relevant experience, OR
  • Associate of Arts with 4 years relevant experience, OR
  • Associate of Science with 3 years relevant experience.
  • Task-oriented, detailed, and organized.
  • Good data keeping skills (data entry and reports).
  • Basic understanding of MS Office, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment and familiarity with GLP/GMP conditions.
  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
