Job summary

Yute Commuter Service seeks professional pilots for its Part 135 team serving Western Alaska communities. Opportunities include a Second-in-Command path on the Cessna 208 Caravan and a development program to progress toward Captain as you gain experience.

Qualifications

• FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating required.
• Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate (First Class preferred).
• Valid U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship available).
• Demonstrated IFR proficiency.
• Minimum flight hour requirements: 500 hours VFR, 1,500 hours IFR, 2,000 hours total (preferred).
• Turbine experience preferred (250 hours).
• ATP certification mentioned as a preferred qualification.

Responsibilities

• Safely conduct Part 135 scheduled and charter flight operations.
• Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections.
• Evaluate weather, aircraft performance, and operational conditions.
• Maintain flight records and required documentation.
• Provide professional customer service to passengers and communities.
• Communicate with dispatch, maintenance, and crew.
• Progression through development program from SIC to Captain as experience accrues.

Position Summary

Yute Commuter Service is seeking professional, safety-focused pilots to join our Part 135 team serving the communities of Western Alaska. Operating scheduled and charter flights throughout the Yukon-Kuskokwim (Y-K) Delta, our pilots play a vital role in connecting remote communities with essential transportation year-round.

Whether you’re an experienced Captain or an aspiring commercial pilot looking to build turbine experience through our Cessna 208 Caravan Second-in-Command Professional Development Program, you’ll gain valuable Alaska flying experience while working alongside an experienced and supportive team.

Our pilots enjoy a predictable 15 days on / 15 days off rotational schedule, allowing for an exceptional work-life balance while flying in one of the most unique and rewarding aviation environments in the world.

Duties & Responsibilities

Safely conduct Part 135 scheduled and charter flight operations in accordance with FAA regulations and company procedures.

Perform thorough pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections.

Evaluate weather, aircraft performance, and operational conditions to ensure safe flight operations.

Maintain accurate flight records and required documentation.

Provide professional, courteous customer service to passengers and communities we serve.

Exercise sound judgment and aeronautical decision-making in dynamic operating environments.

Communicate effectively with dispatch, maintenance personnel, and fellow crew members.

Maintain the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and regulatory compliance.

Pilots accepted into our FAA-approved Professional Development Program will:

Fly as Second-in-Command aboard the Cessna 208 Caravan alongside experienced Captains.

Receive structured mentoring focused on line operations, decision-making, and customer service.

Progress through a clearly defined pathway toward Captain (PIC) qualification as experience and proficiency requirements are met.

Qualifications

Pilot-in-Command (PIC)

FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating

Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate (First Class preferred)

Valid U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship available)

Strong safety mindset, adaptability, and professional attitude

Flight Experience

VFR Operations

• Minimum 500 hours total flight time

IFR Operations

Minimum 1,500 hours total flight time

Demonstrated IFR proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

2,000 hours total flight time

250 hours turbine experience

ATP Certificate

1,500 hours total time

100 hours multi-engine experience

Additional preferred experience:

Cessna 206 or 207 experience

Second-in-Command (SIC) – C208 Caravan Professional Development Program

Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate

This program is designed for motivated commercial pilots who meet minimum qualifications but are seeking additional experience before upgrading to a Captain position.
