Jr. Davis Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a focused Pile Driver to operate pile driving equipment and related tasks on outdoor construction sites in Florida.

You will drive pilings for bridges, bulkheads and foundations while coordinating with ground crew to meet project objectives. Responsibilities include operating pile drivers, hoisting leads, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety standards in potentially loud, dusty environments.

Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience with piling driving operation in highway, bridge and road construction.
  • High School diploma or GED required for the role.
  • Active Driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate pile drivers mounted on skids, crawler treads, or cranes to drive pilings.
  • Position piling leads and hoist pilings; place hammer over the piling.
  • Drive pilings to desired depths and anchor structures.
  • Work with ground crew to meet project objectives.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good condition of equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance including cleaning and lubrication.

Job description

Position Objective/Description: Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a pile driving equipment and related tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate pile drivers mounted on skids, crawler treads, or cranes to drive pilings
  • Operate hoisting equipment to position piling leads, hoist pilings; position hammer over the piling
  • Operate controls to drive pilings to desired depths
  • Drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads and foundations of structures, including bridges
  • Assists with assembling, loading of pile driving hammer, leads and the hoisting equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and good condition of equipment
  • Perform minor maintenance to include cleaning, lubricating and refilling equipment
  • Check fluid levels, maintain tires pressures and change implements or attachments
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Work closely with ground crew to achieve project objectives
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of pile driving in bridge operations, capacities and physical limitations
  • Safe driving abilities and strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures
  • Able to listen, follow directions, and have a willingness to continue to enhance skills
  • Effective communications with jobsite supervisor and co-workers
  • Demonstrate a safety first attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
  • Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary
  • Must have reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned worksites
  • Must have knowledge of working around cranes, of all types of bridge construction equipment.
  • Capable of operating friction crane is a plus
Physical Demands:
  • Constant physical effort, including extended sitting for at least 8 hour shift
  • Intermittent walking and standing on a construction site.
  • Climb intermittently
  • Regularly twist, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch to perform duties
  • Regularly reach above shoulder level
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift, push, pull and/or carry at least 50 pounds occasionally, and sometimes heavier weight.
  • Agility, balance, and manual dexterity, as well as arm-hand steadiness
  • Able to hear and respond to oral instructions in a noisy environment.
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach and grasp with hands and arms.
  • Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination.
  • Good vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus
Education / Experience:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two (2) years’ experience with piling driving operation in highway, bridge and road construction
  • Active Driver’s license
Work Environment:

Regularly works in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity. Frequently works near heavy equipment and moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. Work may involve exposure to a variety of substances found on construction site such as oil, grease, gasoline, concrete and diesel fuel. Periodically exposed to fumes, lubricants, airborne particles and dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
