Job summary

Murray Logan Construction is seeking an experienced Pile Driver Operator to safely operate pile-driving and related heavy equipment used in the construction of foundations, bridges, marine structures, and other heavy civil projects.

This position requires working closely with pile-driving crews, foremen, and other field personnel to complete work according to project specifications and established safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating pile-driving equipment or similar heavy construction equipment.
• Experience in heavy civil, bridge, marine, foundation, or pile-driving construction strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of safe heavy-equipment operating practices.
• Ability to understand and respond appropriately to standard construction hand signals and radio communications.
• Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and take appropriate action.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Dependable attendance and ability to report to varying project locations.
• Must be able to work outdoors in changing weather and jobsite conditions.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on job assignment.
• NCCCO or other crane/operator certification may be required when operating equipment for which certification is legally or contractually required.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate pile-driving and related heavy equipment per project specifications.
• Work closely with pile-driving crews, foremen, and field personnel to complete work.
• Maintain awareness of safety and signals; respond to radios and hand signals as required.
• Identify and address unsafe conditions and report to supervisors as needed.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, kneel, walk, talk, see, hear, push, pull, climb, bend, and stoop. The employee frequently is required to stand, (for up to 8 eight hours), walk (occasionally on rough terrain/in varying weather conditions), climb, use manual dexterity to operate tools used in the course of work, hear sufficient to hear conversations in person, and via telephone and radio, and vision sufficient for distance sight and to read diagrams, computer screens, manual reports, rules, regulations, laws, and plans. The employee is occasionally required to reach, push, and pull with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Physical dexterity may involve stretching, proper placement of legs, and use of arms and hands in repetitive motions. The employee must be able to maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities occurring at the site, including the activities of other employees, and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
