Job summary

Northwell Career Site is seeking a Pediatric ICU nurse with 2+ years of current PICU experience. The ideal candidate will hold BLS and PALS certifications and be capable of leading patient care using the nursing process, collaborating with physicians, and guiding a care unit team.

The selected nurse will assess physiologic and psychosocial health, develop and implement care plans, and coordinate with the care team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; ADN required, BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of professional nursing experience in the related specialty.
• BLS required; PALS certification often required in pediatric settings.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient’s physiologic health status and plans care.
• Assesses psychosocial health status and coordinates with families.
• Develops and documents patient outcomes and individualized goals.
• Formulates and prioritizes the plan of care; coordinates resources.
• Implements the plan of care with monitoring and safety in mind.
• Evaluates care effectiveness and outcomes for continuous improvement.
• Collaborates with physicians and care team; provides guidance to staff.
• Performs skin care and decubitus prevention; administers medications safely.
• Engages in patient and family education and discharge planning.
• Performs related duties as required.
