Job Description
Assist with filling and/or packaging orders from the warehouse in preparation for shipment. Help maintain the warehouse and inventory of products and/or customer-supplied materials. Assist with training and continuous improvement efforts.
- Pick or package a variety of printed materials or related items using a variety of packing procedures and techniques.
- Follow detailed procedures to perform routine packing work. Assemble finished products into boxes or containers for shipping.
- Operate computers and relevant warehouse management software.
- Perform related tasks such as placing labels on packages, putting manuals into binders, and handling boxes for final product. Ensure accurate shipping information is attached and packages are shipped according to specified schedule.
- Place, arrange, mark, seal, and tag items in bundles, on pallets, and/or in containers, bins, and bulk storage.
- Meet established productivity and quality standards.
- Identify potential issues and involve department Lead and/or management to determine an appropriate solution.
- Participate in continuous training and development of employees and temporary labor.
- Count and sort various product items.
- May feed, remove, flex, jog, and stack printed sheets, folded signatures, labels, or other in-process products to and from the equipment in the assigned area.
- Load and unload materials onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. May load materials into trucks and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools.
- Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated areas, using hand trucks, electric dollies, or other devices. May occasionally operate industrial trucks or electric hoists to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Assist with special projects or more complex customer orders.
- Help maintain the security and safety of the warehouse.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment required.
- Ability to read and interpret job specifications and identify the correct parts for fulfilling customer orders.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to explain departmental procedures and methods.
- Basic knowledge of routine packing procedures, techniques, equipment, and general warehouse procedures.
- Ability to stock, move, arrange, and rotate items according to operating instructions or under guidance of a higher-level employee.
- Ability to complete forms related to stock description, quantity, unit of issue, and labeling requirements.
- Skill in assembling standard shipping boxes and packing contents securely.
- Basic skill in using shrink-wrap or strapping equipment, manual dollies, pallet jacks, carts, hand trucks, and hand tools for material handling.
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Willingness to flex schedule, including working overtime or different shifts if needed.
- Ability to use a ladder to pick items or retrieve boxes or materials.
