Peoria Production Shop Inc. is seeking a Picker Packer to observe packaging operations and inspect containers to ensure conformance with customer specifications. The role involves counting, verifying part numbers, and setting scales to meet work orders, with emphasis on accuracy and pace.

Qualifications

• Some High School required.
• 1 year warehouse experience as packager/allocator or similar.
• Knowledge of basic math and calculator functions.
• Ability to read packaging work orders and count accurately.

Responsibilities

• Proceeds with assigned duties with minimal supervision.
• Works on small-piece orders with higher turnover and frequent job switching.
• Maintains efficiency and accuracy in packing.
• Stays focused and task-driven.
• Performs verified counts per the work order.
• Inspects containers for spec-compliant packaging.
• Verifies part number, description, and quantity match the work order.
• Determines pieces per container per customer requirements.
• Sets scale per work order; line leader verifies.
• Performs random checks on fill amounts.
• Ensures orders align with packaging work order.
• Assists with packaging as needed.
• Reports discrepancies to supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Picker Packer

Brief Description: Observes packaging operations and inspects containers to verify conformance to customer specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Proceeds with assigned duties with minimal supervision.
• Usually works on orders that require a small number of pieces resulting in higher turnover of orders and increased switching of jobs throughout the day.
• Efficient and hardworking.
• Has the ability to stay on task, is not easily distracted by surrounding activities.
• Conducts verified counts of packaged goods in accordance with the package work order.
• Inspects filled containers to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.
• Verifies that part number, description, and quantity on packaging work order match the material at the table.
• Determines the number of pieces that must be put in each container based on customer requirements.
• Sets scale to determine the number of pieces each container requires according to its package work order. Have a line leader check to be sure that the scale is set correctly before proceeding with filling the order.
• Randomly checks containers to make sure they are filled with the correct amount of material.
• Ensures orders are filled according to packaging work order.
• Helps with packaging responsibilities whenever needed or when time allows.
• Reports quantity discrepancies or other problems to a supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to be on feet for 8 hours each day either standing or walking.
• Regularly required to bend, stoop, or reach with hands and arms while filling orders.
• Regularly required to use hands to handle objects or tools.
• Must be willing to work 40 hours per week.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, ear plugs required in some locations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of basic mathematical functions and basic calculator functions.
• Knowledge of production equipment and tools such as electric hand jacks, electric tape machines, handheld tape guns, and heat sealers.
• Skill to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to read packaging work order.
• Ability to count.
• Ability to pay attention to detail.
• Ability to use an RF gun.
• Ability to complete tasks quickly, neatly, accurately, and carefully.
• Ability to handle pressure of deadlines and stay patient while tasks are being performed.
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.

Education/Experience:

• Some High School required.
• 1 year experience working in a warehouse environment as a packager, allocator, or similar position.
