Job Objective:

Work with children and adults in the corps and community to plan and implement a music program, including teaching theory, performance skills, music, and values.

Essential Functions:

1. Provide quality piano accompaniment for choir programs, including weekly rehearsals, recitals, concerts, and performances throughout the year.
2. Collaborate with corps leadership to plan and attend recitals and prepare music programs for end-of-year concerts.
3. Encourage participants to develop musical abilities, fostering self-esteem and pride, and involving them in positive activities.
4. Assist in ensuring music performances promote awareness of the Corps' community role.
5. Support participants' attendance at summer camps and help plan their participation in divisional and summer music camps.
6. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive teaching experience.
• Experience: At least two years of music experience working with children and adults; performance experience preferred.
• Certifications/Licenses: None required.
• Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in music theory and primary instrument.
  • Strong knowledge of music, including performance, education, and theory.
  • Leadership and organizational skills.
  • Team player, self-starter, and reliable in completing tasks.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility.
  • Commitment to supporting The Salvation Army's mission.

Additional Requirements:

Physical requirements include light physical work and frequent use of musical instruments, equipment, and standard office tools. Reasonable accommodations are available.
